Ako means to learn and to teach, and this engaging bilingual flash card game does exactly that. Perfect for whānau, classrooms, and friends, these Māori–English cards help build vocabulary, confidence, and connection through play.

Play in pairs, groups, or as a whole class. Take turns drawing a card and calling out the Māori word, whoever calls out the English translation first wins that round. Or flip it, call out the English word and race to say the Māori kupu. The winner keeps the card. Most cards at the end wins.

You can describe, act out, or explain the word, just like Māori charades, but you cannot say the kupu written at the bottom of the card.
